Getting Ready!

We are ready to start doing events! Ernie has a new liver and is feeling great! He has finished the commercial kitchen and has started cooking! Our first public event will be Brick Street Market, on May 6th in Zionsville. Starting in June, we plan to be at Summerfest in Lebanon and will be doing the Lebanon Farmer’s Market on Tuesday evenings and Whitestown on Thursdays. Watch our Facebook Page for the latest!

Bittersweet Announcement - GOING MOBILE!

After 7 1/2 years, we are closing our brick and mortar location to focus on Ernie’s health. We have found a great family-based business which will be assuming our lease. What’s next? In the summer of 2020, Ernie refitted a car hauler into a BBQ trailer. We have been doing some events in the trailer as time allows, and Ernie will be doing events as he is able. Watch our Facebook page for upcoming events! We truly appreciate all the support over the years!

Thanksgiving Recap

We have officially survived out first holiday as a business. Whew! It seems there's barely enough time to take a breath before diving right back in for Christmas - but trust that we'll be ready for you!

Thanksgiving makes you think: Turkey. Grilliant Foods Thanksgiving makes us think: a LOT of smoked turkey. This year we fulfilled 29 orders for smoked Thanksgiving turkeys. That's full capacity for our first year! Ernie worked the entire week leading up making sure that everything was smoked and sliced for everyone. So far we've heard great reviews from our smoked turkey customers. If you didn't make it in time for a turkey this year, there's always next year! You don't want to miss out on such a flavorful and easy Thanksgiving experience.

We're especially thankful for all of the people that made their way in for their Thanksgiving needs. You guys practically wiped us out of a lot of our grocery stock! Not to worry though, we're restocking everything ASAP.

If you have any sort of holiday needs - from now leading up to the New Year - we're here to take care of you. Groceries, gift baskets, catering, anything you need! You can even use our dining room for your holiday party. We'll do ribs, brisket, pork, smoked salmon... whatever you think you might want to eat during this season. Just stop by or give us a call to see how we can help you.

Thanks to all of you who support small, local businesses!

Leftover brisket

While preparing for dinner at home the other day, I was contemplating what to make with what we had on hand.   Of course we always have some kind of smoked meat on hand.   Here's a recipe that I put together on the fly that got rave reviews:

Brisket Mexican Gumbo

Ingredients:

  • leftover Brisket (we had about a pound, which made a very meaty gumbo)
  • 1green pepper, diced
  • 1 diced medium onion
  • olive oil
  • about a quart of tomato juice (4 cups) - more if you want this to come out like a soup
  • a pint of diced tomatoes (or 15 ounce can)
  • 1 cup corn - fresh or frozen
  • 1 can of black beans - drained and rinsed
  • 2-3 T chili powder to taste
  • 1 cup rice

Saute peppers and onions in oil until tender.   Add remaining ingredients except rice and bring to boil.   Add rice and cook until tender.

If desired, add additional preferred seasonings our brisket covered the salt, pepper, cayenne, etc...    Garnish with salsa, sour cream, and cheese.

We found this was even better the next day!!

State Fair BBQ Cookoff Coming Up August 8

It's time for Grilliant Foods to defend our title of Grand Champion of the Indiana State Fair BBQ Backyard Competition.   We will be there (not open in the restaurant that day) starting in the wee hours of Saturday, August 8 and will be turning in creations until 2 pm on Main Street - we have set up most years very close to the Hooks Pharmacy.  It's a great chance to be able to see how competitions work.  Shoup's Country Foods puts on the competition and will be there providing samples.   We have their sauce and seasoning in the store and use their sauce in our house pulled pork.

We will be competing in :  Build Your Own Hogburger, Chicken, Ribs, Pork Loin and Open Class.   We will post pictures of our turn in boxes on Facebook throughout the day.

We Are Officially Open for Business

We are happy to announce that after (mere) weeks of preparation, Grilliant Foods is up and running as a Restaurant and European Market. It's an interesting combination, but we're here to cater to the needs of the community - in addition to our love for BBQ. So please, stop on by! We'll be here Tuesday through Saturday every week from 10-7. Grab some lunch, pick up some Hungarian sausage, or just come and enjoy a nice cold Coke and a cookie.
Thank you to everyone whose support has made this journey possible!

Competitive Life

It's been a while, but we have some updates for you!

First of all, Grilliant Foods has been announced at the Grand Champion of the 2014 Indiana State Fair Backyard BBQ competition.  It was proof that you don't have to win all of the categories to bring home the trophy chair.  This title sits right next to last year's Grand Reserve Champion (2nd place) - showing you that our food is getting better and better. AND we've got some new sauce that will blow your socks off.

Upcoming events for us include a few more competitions, a few catering gigs, and making plenty of beer brats for our church's Oktoberfest at the end of the month.

Here's to BBQ and everything good in the world.

Summerfest Gradfest

Summer break has officially begun and we celebrate with all of our friends celebrating graduation.  And boy, is it time to celebrate.  If you have a grad who deserves a good party, hit us up for some food - allowing you to sit back, relax, and celebrate alongside them.  We've already smoked and cooked up some goods for a few parties already.

Maybe you don't have a grad, but you still deserve to celebrate.  If you find yourself hosting any sort of summer event or party, allow Grilliant Foods to help move your plans along.  The grills are fired up and ready to go ... we're just waiting for the orders to roll in!

What's summer without that nice smokey smell anyway?
